The pressure relief valve, sometimes called relief valve, PRV or safety valve, is used to control the pressure in a system. It is set to open when the system pressure goes above a certain point to prevent the system being severely damaged . Each PRV has a set "bar", when the pressure within the system exceeds the bar the prv opens to allow water to escape which reduces the amount of pressure within the system .
