What is a Pressure relief & Safety Valve?
The pressure relief valve is a type of valve used to control or limit the pressure in a boiler which can build up by instrument or equipment failure. The Pressure Relief Valve is designed or set to open at a predetermined set pressure to protect the pressure vessel and other equipment from exceeding their design limits. Once normal conditions are restored the valve will close preventing the boiler from losing too much fluid. The Pressure Relief Valve is also known as Safety valve, PRV or Relief Valve.
