The pressure relief valve, sometimes called PRV, relief valve or safety valve, is used to decrease the pressure in a system. It is set to open when the pressure within the system rises past a certain point to stop any severe damage to the system . Each PRV has a set "bar", once this bar is reached the prv opens to allow water to escape which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
