The pressure relief valve, sometimes called safety valve, relief valve or the PRV is used to relieve the pressure in a system. It is set to open if the system pressure goes above a certain point to stop the system from being severely damaged . Each PRV has a set "bar", once this bar is reached the prv opens to allow water to escape which reduces the amount of pressure within the system .
