The insulation is commonly used inside the combustion chamber and is designed to reduce the amount of heat escaping through the side of the combustion chamber, which improves the boilers efficiency. Insulation needs to be handled with care as it can be quite delicate and any damage to the insulation will allow heat to escape, the escaping heat may cause damage to other parts of the boilers which are sensitive to heat such as the PCB .
